Sorting Center

Humana Slovakia has a sorting center situated in the city Martin. It was started in 2005 and has now cca 80 employees.

Most of the clothes for sorting are imported from other Humana organizations in Italy, Germany, Austria and USA. The clothes are collected in collection boxes placed in public places. That way people can donate the clothes they don’t use anymore for a good purpose.

At the sorting center the clothes are sorted into 3 main groups:

  • One part goes to second hand HUMANA shops in Slovakia, Czech, Poland and Romania and to wholesale.
  • Another part is sent to Africa to be sold at low prices to local merchants. This meets the demand of the countries, creates local economic activity, and generates local resources for development.
  • The rest is sold in Slovakia and India for re-use.
